URGENT - IMMEDIATE BROADCAST REQUESTED Severe Thunderstorm Watch Number 532 NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK 1250 PM EDT Sun Jul 14 2024 The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a * Severe Thunderstorm Watch for portions of Central Indiana Central Ohio * Effective this Sunday afternoon and evening from 1250 PM until 700 PM EDT. * Primary threats include... Scattered damaging wind gusts to 70 mph likely Isolated large hail events to 1.5 inches in diameter possible SUMMARY...A line of thunderstorms over northern Indiana will track southeastward across the watch area through the afternoon, posing a risk of locally damaging wind gusts and hail. The severe thunderstorm watch area is approximately along and 55 statute miles north and south of a line from 45 miles north northwest of Indianapolis IN to 30 miles east northeast of Columbus OH. Scattered damaging winds likely with isolated significant gusts to 90 mph possible Isolated large hail events to 1.5 inches in diameter possible SUMMARY...A well-organized, bowing thunderstorm complex, with a history of numerous, measured, significant severe gusts (65+ kt) in western and central SD, should continue to pose a threat for severe wind as it moves through much of the watch area through dawn. Scattered damaging wind gusts to 70 mph possible Isolated very large hail events to 2 inches in diameter possible SUMMARY...The best-organized part of a thunderstorm complex has been producing large hail and measured severe gusts in and near the Twin Cities over the past 1-2 hours, and may maintain severe potential southeastward through the watch area before weakening. Isolated severe hail also is possible from somewhat less-organized convection to its east and southeast. The severe thunderstorm watch area is approximately along and 40 statute miles north and south of a line from 5 miles west southwest of Rochester MN to 50 miles east northeast of La Crosse WI.
