Meteorological summer has just started, and already millions of people across the West are preparing for potentially life-threatening heat-related illnesses due to a change in the weather pattern that will result in triple-digit temperatures during the regionâs first summer heat wave.
A ridge of high pressure that been in control of Mexicoâs weather in combination with a building ride over the Pacific will shift northward and will mean triple digit heat for the Southwest. Temperatures are expected to peak at upwards of 120 degrees at Death Valley National Park.
